At seventeen, Susan Burk, affectionately referred to as, “Ms Sue,” sold her first work of art and held her first summer art camp, “Camp Creative.”
She studied at San Diego State University while accumulating a portfolio to enter the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After earning her degree, she studied abroad in Geneva, Switzerland for one year.Upon her return to the U.S., Ms. Sue pursued a career in graphic design and packaging art directing and designing for some of the top advertising agencies in California, all while exhibiting her own work. Her relocation to Texas 10 years ago returned her to her pure passion to paint, create and teach. She began “Ms. Sue’s Art Studio” in her mother’s house in Fair Oaks Ranch by teaching one private lesson to a third grader. Within 4 months she had more than 30 kids coming for classes. In 2014 she was gifted the property where the studio is currently located in Boerne, Texas. She is currently teaching more than 12 classes a week to children, teens and adults.Ms. Sue was recently married to retired Army officer, Kevin Burk and together have 4 children. They plan to build a new home on the studio property.
Lori will be seen around Ms Sue’s helping with classes and events. She has a Fine Arts degree from UT and she and her husband Richard have raised two fine boys in the Boerne area. She has proven to be a positive, helpful light around Ms Sue’s and I hope you will all get a chance to meet her this year.
